Announcements

  • A LEGACY OF LOYALTY AND SERVICE

The theme for Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2024, is “A Legacy of Loyalty and Service.“

In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice, or temporary cessation of war, was declared between the Allies and Germany in WWI.  Woodrow Wilson declared November 11th as Armistice Day to honor veterans of WWI.  In 1954 President Eisenhower signed legislation declaring the day Veteran’s Day and November 11th became a day to honor American Veterans, living or dead, of all wars.  We give thanks to all veterans who served or are serving, their country honorably during war and peacetime.

Father, bless our veterans and all who serve our nation defending our freedom.
For those who gave their lives grant them eternal rest.
For those who are serving give them courage.
For those who served we offer gratitude.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

  • COUNCIL MEETING

The Parish Pastoral Council Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12th at 6:30 PM in Grotto Hall following the 6:00 Mass.

  • WORKING ON THE MARGINS

For more than 50 years, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has helped address root causes of poverty in the United States by creating solidarity with people on the margins. When community members stand together and work for changes, immigrants and others who are vulnerable can make their voices heard as they seek justice and opportunities.  By standing in solidarity with the poor and marginalized, CCHD-funded organizations are making positive differences in the lives of vulnerable people every day. When you support CCHD, you stand with them across the country and in your own neighborhood. 25% of your contributions remain in your Diocese to strengthen communities and create new opportunities for those who are living on the margins. Please support the campaign in next week’s second collection. Envelopes are in the pews.

  • 75TH ANNIVERSARY ROSARY RALLY

In the fall of 1949, the first Rosary Rally in the United States was held in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Organized by “the Rosary Priest” Father Patrick Peyton, C.S.C., the Rosary Rally was an effort to re-ignite the untold benefits of devotion to the Rosary and prayer to our Blessed Mother. Nearly 50,000 people gathered to pray the Rosary on that special day.

The Diocese of Scranton Rosary Rally led by Bishop Bambera, to commemorate the first rally, is Saturday, November 16th, 2024, beginning at 1:30 pm. All SS. Peter and Paul parishioners are invited and encouraged to attend.  An insert in this week’s Bulletin provides you with a schedule and all the information you will need to attend.
