TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - YEAR B

Readings

First: Job 38:1, 8-11 - From the heart of the tempest the Lord gave Job his answer ... Who pent up the sea? ... some this far, I said, and no further: here your proud waves shall break.

Psalm 106 - O give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever / Some sailed to the sea in ships / For he spoke, he summoned the gale / Then they cried to the Lord in their need / They rejoiced because of the calm.

Second: II Corinthians 5:14-17 - For anyone who is in Christ there is a new creation.

Acclamation: Luke 7:16 - They were all filled with awe ...

Gospel: Mark 4:35-41 - Jesus calms the storm at sea.

Themes

Storm on the lake / Job's answer: who pent up the sea / For anyone in Christ a new creation - a great prophet. The power and protection of God, who is mightier than the sea / storm. Conquering chaos.
