Twenty-ninth Sunday

TWENTY-NINTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - YEAR C

Readings

First: Exodus 17:8-13 - As long as Moses kept his arms raised, Israel had the advantage in a battle against the Amalikites.

Psalm: 120 - Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth / I lift up my eyes to the mountains / May he never allow you to stumble / The Lord is your guard and your shade / The Lord will guard you from evil.

Second: II Timothy 3:14 - 4:2 - Scripture is inspired by God and can therefore be used for teaching people to be holy. Your duty is to proclaim the message - with patience and the intention of teaching.

Gospel: Luke 18:1-8 - Parable of the judge and the persistent widow: God will see justice done to his chosen who cry to him ... but when the Son of Man comes, will he find any on earth?

Themes

Christ opened his arms on the cross like Moses did - we are called to join him and not to lose heart, to be steadfast in faith in God's mercy. Our call to prayer / petition.
