THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - YEAR A

Readings

First: Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31 - The perfect wife - who can find her. She is busy, generous to the poor, and wise. She deserves her share, and public recognition.

Psalm 127 - O blest are those who fear the Lord / Your wife like a fruitful vine / Indeed thus shall be blessed .

Second: I Thessalonians 5:1-6 - The day of the Lord is going to come like a thief in the night - but you are all children of the light ... stay wide awake.

Gospel: Matthew 25:14-30 or 14-15,19-21 - Parable of the talents ... for everyone who has will be given more.

Themes

Christ is head of the household which is the church - he has a good wife, devoted children and faithful servants.

Service - using the talents God has provided. Stewardship.
