TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - YEAR C
Readings
First: Amos 6: 1, 4-7 - Woe to those who sprawl on their divans and do not care - they will be the first to be exiled.
Psalm: 145 - My soul give praise to the Lord / It is the Lord who keeps faith forever / It is the Lord who gives sight to the blind / He upholds the widow and the orphan.
Second: I Timothy 6: 11-16 - Fight the good fight of faith ... until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ who at the due time will be revealed as King of kings and Lord of Lords.
Gospel: Luke 16: 19-31 - The parable of Lazarus and the rich man ... whose brothers have Moses and the prophets as warning.
Themes
Christ's concern for the poor. Justice. Social issues. Our call to listen to the prophets' message. The corruption that riches can cause.
