THIRTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - YEAR C

Readings

First: Wisdom 11:22 - 12:2 - The world is a grain of dust to God - but yet God is merciful and loves everything that exist ... you spare all things because they are yours, O Lord, lover of life.

Psalm 144: I will bless your name forever, O God my king / I will give you glory / The Lord is kind and full of compassion / All your creatures shall thank you / The Lord is faithful in all his words

Second: II Thessalonians 1:11 - 2:2: We pray that God will make you worthy ... Christ will be glorified in you. Turn to the coming of Jesus - but do not be alarmed by predictions that the day has come.

Gospel: Luke 19: 1-10 - Zacchaeus the tax-collector climbed a tree so Jesus would see him - Jesus dined with him, Zacchaeus has a change of heart and is saved. Jesus came to seek and save the lost.

Themes

Jesus in our midst - our protector and Saviour. Forgiveness. The love of God. Sending forth.
